Short-term work stay

If the interested party only needs to work in French territory for 90 days or less, a visa will not be required, but prior to the contract, the employer must request authorization from the French authority, unless the reason for the hiring is participation in a sporting, cultural, artistic or scientific event, a symposium, seminar or professional fair, film or audiovisual production or broadcasting as an artist or technician, occasional teaching activity, company activity, modeling or artistic posing.

Although a visa is not required, the reason for your stay in France and your economic capacity must be proven with the following documentation

  • Passport issued less than 10 years ago and valid for at least 3 months after the planned departure date.
  • Proof of accommodation covering the entire stay, either by means of a reservation or hosting certificate.
  • Proof of sufficient financial resources to pay for the stay in France (€65 per day).
  • Return ticket or proof of financial resources for its acquisition.
  • Copy of the labor contract.
  • Legalized, apostilled and translated diplomas, certificates and letters of recommendation attesting to the applicant’s suitability for the position.

Long-term work stay

The long-term work visa is issued whenever the applicant needs to work in French territory for more than 90 days.

Prior to the visa application and even the contract, the employer must request authorization from the French authority.

Required Documentation

  • Passport issued less than 10 years ago and valid for at least 3 months after the planned departure date.
  • Two passport-size photographs.
  • Proof of accommodation covering the entire stay, either by means of a reservation or hosting certificate.
  • Proof of sufficient financial resources to pay for the stay in France (€65 per day).
  • Return ticket or proof of financial resources for its acquisition.
  • Copy of the labor contract.
  • Legalized, apostilled and translated diplomas, certificates and letters of recommendation attesting to the applicant’s suitability for the position.
  • Work authorization obtained by your employer.

Seasonal work stay

Seasonal work is that directed to the development of activities dependent on a certain season of the year, such as tourism.

As a seasonal worker, a long-term visa will be issued, which will be valid for a maximum of one year. Once in France, you may apply for a multiannual temporary stay card, which will allow you to work in the French territory for up to 6 months every year for 4 years with one or multiple employers, and you may enter without a visa, but upon presentation of the proper work authorization requested by the company.

Special visas

As the capital of arts and culture, France has provided multiple types of visas related to these genres:

1. Per teaching activity

To work as a language assistant, language teacher, teacher or tutor.

  • Language assistant

What it is: It is a support for foreign language education for students of official educational institutions at primary or secondary level. He works approximately 12 hours per week.

Requirements

-Be a native speaker of the language you wish to teach in France.

-Be between 20 and 35 years old.

-Be regularly enrolled in a university (in any country) at the time of application.

-Having obtained a diploma equivalent to the 2nd year of a bachelor’s degree.

-At least a B1 level of French language proficiency.

-Others, depending on the country of candidacy.

Mediating entity: In Colombia, the country offering this program is ICETEX.

Duration: It usually lasts, as well as the contract, 7 months.

  • Language teacher, teacher or tutor

Requirements: Its requirements are assimilated with those of the labor contract.

Can I be independent: No. An employment contract is required.

Cost: For long-term workers, the fee is €99, while for seasonal workers it is free of charge.

Duration: It depends on the duration of the contract, but it will be for a maximum of 1 year.

2. By modeling

Whether as a model or as one’s companion, it is distinguished whether it is through a collaboration with a modeling agency or not.

    • The completed Cerfa form, detailing the particularities of the agreement.
    • If applicable, the agency’s commitment to assume the costs of the stay.

Requirements

They will be the same as for the short or long term work visa depending on the length of stay and, in addition:

    • Letter of request, call or invitation describing the activity, reason, duration and place of the event.
    • Accreditation of your participation in the event.

3. As an artist, performer or author of literary or artistic works.

  • Salaried

If you will exercise your profession as a dependent, by means of one or several labor contracts, you can obtain a long-term visa and a multiannual stay card with a maximum of 4 years, if the contract or contracts exceed 12 months, or simply the visa if they do not exceed 12 months.

Requirements

They will be the same as for the short or long term work visa depending on the length of stay and, in addition:

      • Form 15617*01 completed by the employer(s).
        • Proof of resources corresponding to at least 70% of the minimum wage in France, obtained at least 51% by the development of their activity.
  • Non-salaried

If you will exercise your profession as a dependent, by means of one or several labor contracts, you can obtain a long-term visa and a multiannual stay card with a maximum of 4 years, if the contract or contracts exceed 12 months, or simply the visa if they do not exceed 12 months.

Requirements

They will be the same as for the short or long term work visa depending on the length of stay and, in addition:

    • Proof of resources corresponding to at least 70% of the minimum wage in France, obtained from the development of their activity.
