Transfer of Colombian Visas: What is it about?

Foreigners in Colombia are authorized to request the transfer of Colombian visas, which consists of changing the visa. This can be due to deterioration, loss of passport, when the e-visa has typographical errors and the interested party has not requested the correction within 30 days following issuance, when some clarification or change is required, change of entity, employer or occupation with the fulfillment of the indicated requirements, according to article 118 Decree 4000 of 2004.

Requirements for the transfer of Colombian visas

  1. Submit the completed form DP-FO-67 for visa application.
  2. Valid passport or travel document with at least two blank pages.
  3. Two recent and identical photographs, front-facing, color, white background, 3×3 cm size.
  4. Copy of the biographical data page of the passport, as well as the page containing the last Colombian visa, if any, and that of the last entry or exit stamp from Colombia.
  5. Photocopy of the passport data pages and where the visa to be transferred is recorded, except when dealing with loss of the same, in which case it must be stated in writing.
  6. Copy of the foreign resident card.
  7. Certificate of migratory movement issued by the Special Administrative Unit Migración Colombia in a completely sealed envelope.
  8. Submit the completed format DP-FO-66 "commitment to inform change of occupation". This must be signed directly by the foreign applicant. If the visa application is made through a representative or third party, the signature must be authenticated before a Colombian notary.
  9. Only for holders of Resident visa, Temporary Spouse of Colombian National visa, and Temporary Refugee to Asylum visa.
  10. The holder of Resident Investor Visa, for the transfer, must additionally provide: Documents that demonstrate that they have maintained the investment amount in Colombia for at least three years immediately prior to the visa transfer date. In cases of direct foreign investment in real estate, present the Certificate of tradition and freedom granted by the respective Public Instruments Registry Office within one month prior, which states that the applicant for the Resident Investor Visa transfer continues to be the owner of real estate in the national territory for a value corresponding to the registered investment.

Remember that the fees for procedures carried out at Consulates are set by Ministerial Resolution and established in US dollars and euros. However, these fees can be paid in the equivalent of the local currency where the Consulate is located, according to what each consular office establishes.
