Before acquiring a work visa for Italy, it must be taken into account, first of all, that in order for the professional, bachelor or technical degree obtained in Colombia to be valid, it must be homologated. Otherwise, it will not be valid.

That said, the requirements for each type of visa will vary depending on the profession to be practiced, except:

General requirements

  • Filling out the form for national visas .
  • Recent photographs.
  • Identification document (passport) with an expiration date at least 3 months longer than the required visa period.
  • Availability of suitable accommodation verifiable by means of a lease or home purchase contract or a statement from a close relative, Italian citizen or foreigner legally residing in Italy.

Self-employment or liberal profession / entrepreneur

To practice law, accounting or education or to develop your business in Spain, you must:

  • Obtain a certificate issued by the competent Chamber of Commerce that shows the resources necessary to develop the business, commercial or artisan activity in an amount greater than three times the annual social allowance (currently about €2650).
  • Proof of financial availability to guarantee the amount of the resources listed in the previous certificate.
  • Proof of availability of an income above the minimum level required by law for exemption from health care cost-sharing (€8500), acquired in the country of residence.

Start-up

To travel to Italy to implement your start-up you must:

  • Proof of availability of an income above the minimum level required by law for exemption from health care cost-sharing (€8500), acquired in the country of residence.
  • Obtain the nulla osta granted by the Technical Committee “Italia Startup Visa” of the Ministry of Economic Development.

Freelance sports worker

To go to Italy to carry out a sports activity as an independent worker, you must obtain a nominative declaration of consent issued by the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI) indicating the athlete’s personal data, the sports discipline in which he/she performs and the details and address of the destination company.

Holding an administrative or controlling position in a company

Being president, board member, general director, auditor, etc. of an existing company for at least 3 years, you will be able to apply for this visa with:

  • Certificate of registration of the company in the register of companies where the position held by the applicant is included.
  • Copy of a formal statement of responsibility, issued by the legal representative of the company, stating that the relationship established with the applicant is not and will not be of an employment nature. The original of this declaration must have been previously sent to the competent Territorial Labor Directorate.
  • Declaration issued by the legal representative of the company assuring in favor of the applicant an indemnity in excess of the minimum level required by law for exemption from participation in health care costs (€8500).
  • Demonstrate availability of an income in excess of the minimum level required by law for exemption from participation in health care costs (€8500), acquired in the country of residence in the year preceding the visa application.

Subordinate work

In this case, you will have already overcome the most difficult part: getting a job in Italy. Now, the only thing you need is the nulla osta for work granted by the one-stop immigration office (SUI).

Subordinate work as a journalist

The nulla osta will not be required from SUI but from the Press Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation with a note verbale. Additionally, you must present your journalist card.

Maritime worker

As a member of a craft, you will require:

  • Formal request from the shipping company.
  • Individual employment contract with copy.
