Digital Nomad Visa or Remote Work Residency in Spain

The Digital Nomad Visa allows non-EU citizens to work remotely for companies located outside Spain using only digital means (computer, telecom, or internet).
- You may be employed by a foreign company under a service contract.
- Up to 20 % of your activity may be contracted with Spanish clients as a self-employed person.
- Applicants must demonstrate at least 3 years of professional experience or hold a degree from an accredited university, vocational school, or business school.

- Spouse or registered partner
- Minor children and adult financially dependent children who have not formed their own household
- Dependent ascendants

General Documentation (Worker and Family)
- Completed national visa application form
- One passport-style photo (white background)
- Valid passport
- Criminal record certificate
- Proof of residence (rental contract, registration, etc.)
- Proof of representative’s identity and capacity (if applicable)
- Visa fee payment receipt
- Health insurance valid in Spain
Worker-Specific Requirements
- Employer’s letter or contract
- Certificate from the Mercantile Registry
- Declaration of social security obligations
- Proof of company registration with Spanish Social Security and worker affiliation (for employees)
- RETA affiliation proof (for self-employed)
- Evidence of sufficient financial means
- Degree certificates or proof of relevant experience; official recognition for regulated professions
Family-Member Requirements
- Documents proving relationship (marriage certificate, family book, etc.)
- Proof of financial dependency and civil status for adult children
- Proof of dependency for ascendants
Application Procedure
- Book an online appointment at the Spanish Consulate in Bogotá.
- Attend with all required documents.
- Wait for a decision (approximately 1 month).
Appeals
- Reconsideration: File within 1 month of denial notice with the consular office.
- Judicial appeal: File within 2 months after the reconsideration decision at the Madrid High Court.
Validity
The visa is valid for 1 year and may be renewed under Spanish regulations.
